# Outside re-read of the v2.3 release: GPT-6 Astra (gpt-6-astra), 30 September 2026

**Type:** outside-lineage read (one Codex call, xhigh), after the second pass · **Verbatim below.**

**1. Original HOLD: partly resolved**

Reviewed commit `3f9ca17c8d59d7e37ee28895c08f9a8ed9bb1749`.

- **R1 reconciliation:** the named paper passages and objection 7 are repaired; residual summaries remain below.
- **Objection 17’s JSON and provenance:** resolved. The false denial is removed; editor, commissioning agent and author roles are distinguished; the reply names the wider affected claims. This discloses the temporal circularity without resolving it.
- **Methodological falsifiers:** S3 resolved; S4 and M3 remain incomplete.
- **Unrelated additions:** resolved. The archive and thirteen documents are absent from this release diff and remain untracked.
- **Release metadata:** the working paper’s HTML, Markdown and PDF title now identify v2.3, September 2026.
- **Review disclosure:** incomplete. Publishing the first HOLD and specification helps, but the public navigation, reviewed-commit metadata and disposition record remain unfinished.

The fixed version pin is restored, and the requested regression checks exist.

**2. Remaining served-surface inconsistencies**

I grepped the specified current surfaces, excluding frozen records. The repaired paper paragraphs now qualify the contemplative pattern appropriately. H1’s declarative wording sits explicitly under a hypothesis heading; that alone is not an assertion of an established finding.

Two summaries still omit the qualification:

- [M3’s machine-readable gloss](../../../claims.json) says “Reflects self-reference itself, or human cognitive architecture.” Unlike the revised prose, it lacks the condition that the pattern survives testing. Mirror that condition in the graph and JSON.
- The [one-page summary](../../../downloads/One_Page_Summary.md) asks only whether the orientations are universal or human-specific. It should first ask whether the proposed pattern survives controlled study, as the homepage now does.

There is also an **inherited, definite contradiction**: [Research_Agenda_and_Tests.md:95](../../../downloads/Research_Agenda_and_Tests.md) still says “Illusionism predicts the two weaken together,” followed by the assurance that every outcome weakens someone. The Academic Edition withdrew that attribution. Copy the corrected Study 5 design and status from `research.html` into this actively served download.

**3. Do the four claim texts match?**

- **S3 — yes.** Its independence from S1 and its new productivity condition fit a methodological recommendation.
- **S4 — no, major.** The [displayed claim](../../../argument.html) says reports **that carry** additional information are legitimate data. This conditional remains true even if no reports qualify. Its falsifier instead tests whether qualifying reports exist. The changelog describes the latter, stronger commitment. State it explicitly and consistently—for example, “Some contemplative reports carry information about experience beyond doctrine, expectation and translation, and are therefore usable data about self-reference”—or change the defeat condition to match the conditional.
- **M3 — partly, still major.** Naming two coding scales improves the measurement proposal. But [“do not separate … would do the same”](../../../argument.html) still promises to **break both readings** without establishing why either reading predicts separation between traditions on those scales. It also lacks a distinction between an informative negative result and an inconclusive null. Specify the predicted contrast, measurement adequacy and precision needed to exclude it; limit the consequence to the empirical interpretation actually tested. Failure of the antecedent in “If the pattern holds up…” does not falsify that conditional.
- **P2 — yes.** Structural/phenomenal separation targets its identification claim; removing the obsolete S3 reference is correct.

**4. New errors and release completeness**

The principal new inconsistency is the changelog’s assertion that S4 now claims additional experiential information exists, while the displayed claim remains conditional.

The [changelog’s review link](../../../respond.html) targets `downloads/lab/v2.3/`, which contains no index. Provide an index or direct document links. Before release, include this reread, both reviewed-commit identifiers, the initial HOLD and itemised dispositions; record author adoption accurately when it occurs. The current packet contains only the first read, specification and proposed second pass.

Objection 17 still lacks actual hyperlinks to its source review and persistence discussion, and the implicated paper, Academic Edition, cohering and homepage passages lack links back to it. Also add objection 17 to `llms.txt`’s enumerated `openHinges` description.

No additional tier or confidence changes found. **Tests: 101 passed; two rebuild tests failed because the read-only environment cannot create temporary directories. Syntax checks passed.**

**HOLD — align S4’s proposition and falsifier; make M3’s negative-result criterion informative and appropriately limited; qualify the remaining summaries; synchronise the Study 5 download; complete review/disposition navigation and objection-17 cross-references.**
