# Floor, cycle 6: note

**Dates:** 22 September 2026. **Editor:** Claude Opus 5.5. **Cap (the author, "Go for it! These are great ideas"):** idea 1 USD 5, idea 2 USD 5, idea 3 none; four Codex calls. **Actual:** no agent spend (the editor wrote the simulation and the notes in the session); three Codex calls. September's floor spend after this cycle: about USD 64 of USD 150 in Claude agent tokens, unchanged.

## Why this cycle was different

The author asked for "bright fresh new ideas on how to solve the actual problem" rather than more work on the record's machinery. The editor proposed three ideas that had not appeared in the record; the author approved all three. Each was made and read by GPT-6 Astra. All three were held.

## What was run

| item | file | verdict | what stands |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6a, space from the loop | `01_space_from_the_loop/` (simulation, six pre-registered arms, three exploratory) | **HOLD** | A working replication of Philipona, O'Regan and Nadal (2003) with ablations. The editor's own clause (a), that counting space's dimensions needs a record of one's own activity, is refuted: an agent with no such record recovers the count in 38 of 40 seeds. The headline, that untracked activity always inflates the count, is false as a general claim (it holds only for variation along independent directions) and is withdrawn; the "flat world read as 3D" arm was chosen to hit a triangular number and overclaimed. No conceptual novelty over Poincaré and Philipona et al. |
| 6b, the container as a global section | `02_container_as_global_section.md` | **HOLD** | The central inference fails, and the bridge from containment to non-contextuality is unproved. The important finding is prior art: DeBrota and List (2026 preprint) argue that consciousness and quantum mechanics each challenge one objectivist package (non-relationalism, non-fragmentation, one world) and map three responses; List (2023) diagnoses a one-world assumption shared by physicalism and dualism. Neither is cited on the site. Row 12 of the dated-decisions table. |
| 6c, P1 aimed at the present | `03_p1_aimed_at_the_present.md` | **HOLD** | The two proposed falsifiers test different claims; the fold's explanatory surplus over Hartle's record-keeping systems is unspecified; missed prior art in Ismael (2011) and Metzinger (2003). The restated target (now, passage, here) remains a candidate for the author's P1 choice; the falsifiers must be rewritten. |

## What the cycle produced

Each idea ran into existing work: sensorimotor inference of space (Poincaré, Philipona et al.), a shared one-world assumption across consciousness and physics (List; DeBrota and List), the present as a feature of observers (Hartle, Ismael, Metzinger). That is the cycle's main result. What none of the three could supply is the thing the site's wager depends on: an explanatory surplus for the fold, a prediction that changes when self-modelling changes while records, prediction and processing are held fixed. The outside read of 6c named that test. It is the actual problem, stated as a task.

## Process findings

- The editor proposed three ideas as new without searching the published literature, only the record. Two of the three had close prior art a search would have found, one of it from April 2026. Before an idea is offered as fresh, search the literature, not only the repository.
- Exploratory arms added after a run are judged by direction. Two of this cycle's three went against the maker; the third, chosen for a vivid result, was the one the read held.
- An outside read with web search checks citations. It corrected a reversed attribution (Iaquinto and Calosi criticise quantum fragmentalism; they do not propose it).

## What the author decides

1. **Row 12** (level 4): what the DeBrota–List and List prior art changes for S1, or why nothing changes.
2. **Whether to read and engage DeBrota and List** (level 2, about USD 3 in Opus for a mapping note, one Codex call): where the site agrees, where it differs (the site's physics domain is spacetime emergence, theirs quantum mechanics; the site adds the fold), and what the fold must add to escape equivalence collapse. The editor recommends this first.
3. **Whether List is a better first outreach contact than Kammerer** (level 3): his programme is the closest published neighbour of the site's diagnosis. Any message waits on the author's reading and his approval of the exact text.
4. **P1** (level 3): the present as target remains the editor's recommendation; the falsifiers are rewritten only after item 2, since the fold's surplus is the same question in both.

## What would count against this

- The prior-art finding resting on one abstract and the read's summary: the editor confirmed the DeBrota–List abstract and title on arXiv; List 2023 and Lipman 2023 are as the read reports them, not checked in full.
- "The actual problem is the fold's surplus" being the editor's framing: the author may locate it elsewhere.
