# Floor, cycle 3: note (opened with the third round on the persistence line)

**Dates:** 19 September 2026. **Editor:** Claude Fable 5.1. **Cap for this round:** USD 10 in Claude tokens at list rates plus one Codex call, set by the author ("Only $10? ... Let's go!! Run with it."). **Actual:** about USD 16.70 in Claude Opus 5 tokens across five agents, and one Codex call (32,142 input tokens, 12,928 cached; 9,708 output). The overrun of two-thirds is the editor's: the author's cap covered one reviser and one outside read, and the editor added two in-lineage refuters, an auditor and a fix pass to protect the single Codex call. The refuters earned their cost (fifteen findings, five of them blockers, all applied before the outside read, which then adopted), but the cap was stated to the author before that addition and not restated after it. Rule for the next round: a change of scope after a cap is stated goes back to the author as a new cap, or does not happen.

## What was proposed

| file | opening | proposer | critic (outside lineage) | verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| `01_persistence_rev3_opus.md` | the persistence criterion, third revision: three commitments the criterion makes (no magnitude; no time beyond the dependency order; preservation of the published verdicts), one open question (whether a directed order is already time), a counting rule after collapsing cycles, and a rejection condition per commitment | Claude Opus 5 | GPT-6 Astra, third read of the line | **ADOPT AMENDED**: cycle-2 findings 1, 4, 5 and 6 answered, 2, 3 and 7 partly; all four questions yes; five exact replacements applied by the editor, after which the critic's stated verdict is ADOPT |

## How the round ran

1. One Opus reviser, scoped by the author's decision to the two blockers of the second hold and its findings 3 to 7, with a brief carrying every site text it may quote (verified by the editor, including the claims-graph entries for P1, M1 and objection 16 that the cycle-2 packet had not carried; the P1 short statement Astra could not locate in cycle 2 is P1's `short` field in `site/claims.json`).
2. Before the Codex call: two Opus refuters, one per blocker, each told to refute that its blocker was answered and to construct small cases (a two-vertex loop; two components, one holding two same-schema records; two dependent records in one update; a forecast never realised; a component with mixed contents); and a quotation and style auditor. Fifteen findings: on blocker 1, that the three commitments left the order's own directedness unexamined (now commitment (d), an open question), that the derivation route asked the critic to exclude every non-temporal individuator, that a "no count of units" premise ran against the conjecture's own threshold of two, and that preservation was one-way; on blocker 2, that the count was evaluated at two levels with no rule between them, that no edge rule between components was stated, that the anticipation clause lost the single-tick exclusion in a mutual-citation loop, that never-tokened items had no type rule, that "component" carried two meanings, that set inequality let a later self-representation carrying strictly less pass as "differing in content", and that occurrence granularity was values rather than assignments; two minors on length and on the seed's caps. A fix pass applied all fifteen and compressed elsewhere to stay near the length limit.
3. The outside read, one Codex call at reasoning effort xhigh: ADOPT AMENDED. The five replacements: the single-tick sentence made explicit about the occurrence-graph shape it assumes and sent to R3; the anticipation clause restated on components, with an item in the anticipating occurrence's own component never qualifying; step two given controlled cases and a three-way record (accept, reject, undefined); R2 and step four reworded so that one route to the derivation is not an exclusive gate; R3 made to count a definite published verdict paired with a rewrite-prescribed "no verdict" as a preservation failure; the cost paragraph corrected to the author-set monthly cap.

## What the cycle has produced so far

The persistence line, held twice, adopted at its third read. What it now says, in the editor's words for the author: the continuity test can be written as "the same self-picture shows up again, later in the order of what depends on what, changed, remembering the earlier one, and reaching forward", with no clock in its premises; whether the order of what-depends-on-what is itself already time is named as the open question and not claimed either way. It attaches to no claim. Going live is the author's.

## Process findings

- A change of scope after a cap is stated is a new cap. Logged above.
- In-lineage refutation before the one outside call worked: the outside verdict moved from HOLD to ADOPT AMENDED, and none of the five outside replacements repeats a refuter finding, which suggests the refuters cleared what they were pointed at and the critic found what was left.
- Packets must carry the claims graph as well as the pages: a quotation objection in cycle 2 was an artefact of the packet.

## What the author decides

1. Whether the adopted conjecture goes live as a lab page (prepared on `floor/cycle-3`, level 2).
2. Cycle 3's remaining openings: the duration-container revision; a second framing run under a preamble-tolerant parse; the outreach decisions already before him.

## What would count against this

- The cost figures being wrong by more than a third: the Claude figures are from the agents' usage records at list rates (the reviser alone read 3.6 million cached tokens across 74 tool calls); the Codex counts are as reported.
- The adopted text still losing the single-tick exclusion when R3 is run: the critic sent that question to R3 rather than settling it, and a run that fails there ends commitment (c).
- The refuter findings having been wrong in a way the critic missed: the fifteen are in the workflow journal for the author or a later critic to check.
