# Outside read of floor cycle 13, the sharper filter on three more systems: GPT-6 Astra (gpt-6-astra), 4 October 2026

**Type:** outside-lineage read (one Codex call, xhigh) · **Verbatim below.**

1. **Delivery faithful; blinding qualified.** Input assembly reproduces exactly, including the verbatim protocol and dossiers. Both readings and the prospective/counterfactual clarification are faithfully conveyed. No earlier or expected verdict appears in the input. The audit supports restricted tool access, not proof of complete contextual isolation.

2. **Results reproduce.** Independently recomputing every field of `result.json` gives **12/12 agreement**, no disagreements: agent **P/P/P/F**, robot **P/P/P/undetermined**, dog **P/undetermined/undetermined/P**, with the reported statuses. Cross-cycle composition also reproduces human **P/P/P/P** and supervisor **P/P/F/P**.

3. **Verdicts defensible for these descriptions, with limits.** Comparing alternative sequences of the agent’s own actions satisfies sharpened 3d; their use in selection supports 3b. Its C4 failure is defensible given the declared loop boundary and explicit external maintenance. The substrate alternative relaxes 4b, not 4a. External electricity alone would not establish failure. Robot C4 is reasonably open on the frozen dossier’s uncertainty about who performs maintenance. **Amend:** distinguish that uncertainty from a requirement for autonomous triggering: the protocol requires an internal maintenance contribution and expressly permits standing maintenance.

4. **The synthesis overreaches.** “Composed” correctly qualifies the human result; retain that qualification for the supervisor too. **Amend** “the readings were proposed after results”: C4’s alternative preceded cycle 11’s results; C3 and selection of their combination followed them. Replace “does not misfire” and “place the line between current AI agents and organisms at self-maintenance” with the narrower result: **these readers exclude this specified, unbuilt planning-agent design on C4**. The supervisor already passes C4 and fails C3. The dog’s evidential gaps do not establish uncertainty about its consciousness. Five descriptions, previously seen dossiers and two Claude readers do not validate a general boundary.

5. **Robot fact-check: adaptation is reported; autonomous initiation is not explicitly established.** The [published paper, author-hosted](https://www.creativemachineslab.com/uploads/6/9/3/4/69340277/task-agnostic_self-modeling_machines.pdf), attributes damage detection and self-model retraining with 10% additional data to the robot. [Columbia’s institutional account](https://www.engineering.columbia.edu/about/news/step-closer-self-aware-machines-0) repeats this; the [authors’ lab account](https://www.creativemachineslab.com/deep-self-modeling.html) says the robot can restart data collection after detecting divergence. These support robot-led adaptation, but do not explicitly document whether the experimental retraining was launched without a human command. The supplement was inaccessible. **Amend:** incorporate this positive evidence and distinguish reported adaptation from verified autonomous triggering. A source-informed C4 reassessment is warranted; preserve the original panel result as dossier-conditioned.

**ADOPT WITH AMENDMENTS (3–5).**
